If you hang around places sites like the Warriorforum or IMD Forum, most of the ways of making money are related to the standard formula of internet wealthiness:
traffic + offer = money
Sometimes the offer is just some interesting advertising that will make the site owner some money when the visitor wants to get away from the low quality content on the current site. Other times the offer is a more or less tangible product that actually is for sale or the promise of gold falling from the sky if the visitor gives away their email address to a complete stranger.

While reading various internet marketing forums there are a hole lot of tips about getting traffic and backlinks to your sites.
Most are a bit spammy and almost require outsourcing due the repetitive mindless tasks necessary.
A tip I got from someone in the blogosphere a couple of years ago that I haven't seen at all on the internet marketing side of things is to leverage blog carnivals.
The advantages of submitting a blog post to a carnival is that:
- You will get nice backlinks from a variety of blogs due to all other entries.
- You will get some initial direct visitors since most other participants will read your entry.
- And last but not least you will get a truck load of ideas for new post, both by complying to each carnival's rules and by reading the other entries.
