Making a lot of money from typos
Well, Sedo is quite obviously making money from typo squatters since they monetize unused domains.
Another big player is Google who, besides their domain parking service, makes a lot of money from typo domains. I don't mind, but according to this webpronews article there is even a law suite against the practice.
What strikes me is that registering typo domains with the purpose of slapping some Adsense on them isn't that far from any other supposedly legit MFA (Made For Adsense) site out there.
I make some money using typo domains to send traffic to CPA (Cost Per Action) offers but at the moment it's not much more than the domain fees. It is very automated though, so it's kind of free money.
Will a brick ‘n mortar be obligatory in the EU?
According to Reuters there is a draft regulation that you will need a brick and mortar store before you can sell online.
I can't actually see any benefits for consumers or anyone else, except existing retailers, with this draft. I really hope that the politicians thinks a little bit by them selfs about this and not only listens to the retail lobby.
According to the article at Reuters both eBay and Amazon have raised their voices against the otherwise internet friendly suggestions.
Maintaining a lot of (WordPress) sites
In a lot of the literature about internet marketing the authors recommends that you use WordPress for even the simplest sites.
I do like WordPress and it has a lot of nice functionality for free, but it is a real pain to upgrade plugins and/or the main install for every update that comes along. A plain html site will never have security issues and it is blazingly fast.
I'm longing for a tool that probably already exists: I'd like a content management system that generates static html from a site wide design.
If your model for internet marketing is to set up a lot of sites making nickles every day a whole lot of the revenue is lost if you have to spend time upgrading the installs.
WordPressMU might be a solution, but I haven't looked in to that yet.
